Codex supplement Black Legion Review
The Codex Black legion is kind of cool fluff Wise, but like the CSM codex it could be rough to play in small game. As a specialist army they become expensive really fast. Take a look more deeply.
Veterans Of the Long War: First you have to get veteran of the long war which I usually take anyway but not on all my units. it is about 100 to 150pts on 3k list.
The Bringer Of Despair: for 6 Pts per Terminator you can get +1WS +1 BS, witch it can be nasty 5 in Skill is almost he perfect number you will hit on 3+ the majority of the foe and you will hit at 2+ on shooting. What is increase the effectiveness of your terminator death star squad.
You have to take Abbadon, total cost of this combo 500 to 600 pts more if you take the Land raider what I don't recommend.
Combo you can be use it is join by Abbadon with combi-Plasma, which mean rapid fire 10 plasma shoot hitting on 2+ reroll (warlord trait Abbadon preferred enemy) wounding almost everything on 2+ reroll. Pro: Very powerful Con: High cost and you can mishap, you have 5 out 6 chance it is go wrong 1 out 3 scatter average 7 inch and is you mishap 1 out 2 to be useless risky move at 500 Pts plus slay the warlord. (you will have reroll on mishap but only in strategic asset, It is a shame)
Chosen as Troop : Its is probably why you will use this codex supplement using Chosen without Abbadon what is mean you can be lead by Typhus and have chosen for troops. Chosen are an expensive choice of troops, but probably one of the best, standing beside plague marine, noise marine and cultist/Zombies.
Chosen are a great choice for a firepower threat or a close combat threat. average cost for a squad is 300 pts you have to think about it.
Warlord Trait : in general they are better than the table of the CSM codex and less situation specific in compare of the big rule book one. What is good ,the only one who is useless is stubborn don't roll 6 ;p.
Chaos Artefacts Vault: If you go fluff wise with a full Black legion army without allies you must forget the classical CSM Artifacts,(its a shame)
The SpineShiver Blade: Basically the Artifact everyone wanted in CSM codex it is the classical Daemon Sword +1 initiative. Cheaper than the CSM equivalent (don't forget almost all Independent character in Codex space marine are in Artificer armour 2+, I highly suggest to match it with power axe)
The Crucible of Lies: It is a devil trade -1T for reroll Invulnerable save of 1. I know , I Know who want T3 but if you take bike and Mark of Nurgle you will be at T5, and if you take any mount you will be at T4 what is standards. If you take the Mark of tzeencth and the sigil you will be at 3++ and if you add the crucible you will reroll 1 its like a 2.16++
Last memory of Yuranthos : It can be your wild card against the horde army it is basically a nova ignore cover with the stats of bolter assault 2D6 blind. (I use once on a chaos sorcerer Lv3 (range 6 inch per charge +6) on bike against Eldar and its really devastating.
The Eye Of Night : Its is in the family of Marbo move but against vehicles large blast ignore cover D3 auto penetration, range infinite. Almost the same cost as Marbo
The Skull Of Ker'ngar: 10 pts less than the eternal Shield giving eternal warrior witch will be lose if you got boon as prince or spawn, you can trade 3++ for adamantium will , Lol funny trade.
The Hand of Darkness : it is a really cool instant killer weapon like the murder sword, but like the murder sword you will be screw by a good inv save, because you only have one ATK, a really strange Artifacts.
In conclusion I don't often use this supplement even if I play fluff because I can buy Abbadon with the pts saved on VOTLW on some units plus a boosted lord is average 215.
I can use the almost same combo for bringer with Obliterator for less expensive 228pts
In fact I have some difficulties to figured out a list on 1850pts and we play usualy at 3k so Abbadon worth it at 3k.
